In slot machines, the RNG (random number generator) produces a sequence of numbers that correspond to each stop on a reel. The computer then uses an internal table to find where that sequence maps to the corresponding reel position. For generations, players were told to bet maximum coins to maximize their chances of winning. That was true on old three-reel machines, but is not usually the case with modern video slots.
